I am getting an intermittent error when I try to send a pm :-

When I hit submit, it totally wipes EVERYTHING I've typed, THEN complains at me that there are not enough characters in the pm!

I'm not doing ANYTHING different when it does it so I'm not causing the error.

I haven't left. I lost my forum because they got hacked, when they got hacked, everything went totally mad, they never replied to my support ticket asking why my forum had disappeared and why my whole account had been wiped, (no record of previous invoices, or anything, and my account got changed to a "free hosting" account, instead of the $23.95/Quarter) in fact I sent about three other tickets regarding other matters.

It was ONLY when I threatened to leave, that they sent me this:

So, I looked elsewhere for forum hosting, I found you guys and thought that the opportunity of having someone else do all the fiddly bits was amazing. However, I am now considering my options of moving elsewhere where I have complete control over my forum boards again, I will just have to learn how to do the fiddly behind the scenes bits...

I have been advised by another customer to leave my current host and host my domain elsewhere, and pay for hosting of my new wordpress site elsewhere too, I don't blame them for suggesting it, my host lost their forum that had been going for 6 years, just completely wiped everything, no backup, no word from the host, NOTHING.

Don't know what to do now. I like being able to NOT worry about upgrading my phpbb board, but then I don't like the idea that I have very little control over the whole thing.

Can you not at the very least, release my CSS, so I can edit it myself, or would this completely screw up your entire hosting?

*sigh* I wish I could "have my cake and eat it."

They are not exactly going to delete a forum on your request if it doesn't actually belong to you. Also, why do you want it deleting? If you don't want to use it, surely you just don't use it? You could easily go into your domain and stop linking to the phpBBhosts board, then hey-presto you don't need it deleting any more? Then it's up to the guys this end to decide whether they want to continue hosting it, considering it's just being used to advertise lots of spammers.

Surely if you want a new forum, then you just sign up for a new one, and ask for your domain to be linked to that one. Then store your log-in information on a passworded file within your home computer, that way you won't lose the information ever again?

Going by the support forum of the karma mod, it's not worth the hassle of installing it anyway, there's LOTS AND LOTS of posts of people complaining of things not working, and of how unfair it is that someone could take karma away, the karma pre-installed on smf boards had a mod to remove the -Karma button from the forum altogether, which we installed as people were giving minus karma because they had pmt or just not having a good day.

I can see how a karma system could be heavily abused.

Hi guys,

I'm 36 (birthday a week or more ago eeek!) I live with my Fiance and my two children.

We also have a load of wonderful pets!

I have joined this forum because I have just set up my own forum using your fantastic hosting services.

I DID have my own smf based forum, but I couldn't upgrade the forum software myself, (too many flippin' mods to do a standard, or even a "modded forum" upgrade) and someone took advantage of the security hole that was caused by the software not being up to date, and completely wiped out my host for the whole weekend.

This is my MAIN REASON for coming here and going to be upgrading to the Pro account, so I don't have to worry about the technical stuff that I am basically too thick to do! I was in awe and excitement when I realised that I could still run my own forum, but not have to do the technical side! (that my Fiance did when we first set up the forum, otherwise I would have found your type of hosting many moons ago)

I hope to become a part of this forum, whilst I am looking for various bits of advice.
