I've been running a phpbb forum on my own server (in my study), but would like to migrate this onto a hosted service.

Is this possible, and can the users be imported too?

Thanks,

Richard

P.S. Ooops - this probably should be in the pre setup forum, and my forum is phpBB 3 - not sure if that helps

Hi guys I have a question regarding upload of an existing forum. We currently have another forum hosted by someone on their personal server, which he has informed us he is taking offline shortly.

Is it possible for you to upload our exisiting forum from a backup .sql file (zipped at the moment!), and if so can you tell me what (if anything) I need to do for this to happen.

I've already created a forum on your site, but then it occurred to me that perhaps I should ask my question before I did anything else.

An early answer would be much appreciated, as our members are getting very twitchy about when we're going to lose our existing forum, and I'd love to be able to go back to them and say "Don't Panic!".

Cheers in advance :)

Ooops yes, sorry I should've told you that :) Yes our current forum is phpbb3, version 7 I'm told.

Hope this is a version that is compatible, I'll await further instructions :D

Happy New Year!

Is there any news on whether the import of our forum would be a viable option (I'm hoping the delay in answering my question is due to the holiday season and not because it won't work ;) )

Patiently awaiting your reply.

Hi there sorry for the delay what you will need to do is email us the backup file to support @ phpbbhosts.co.uk then set up a forum here once you have done this let us know the forum name you have set up and we will then get it transferred.

Please note: there are no promises here as sometimes backups from other places/hosts just are not compatible here but we will see what we can do.

I have e-mailed the back-up file as requested, I used my work e-mail address just in case you're wondering why it doesn't match the one I registered with :)

The forum name I have created is http://stalkerstribe.phpbbhosts.co.uk/
