back up request

Postby CaptainVimes » 06 Feb 2012, 21:12

GoPro is our new package, it gives you more for your forum at a great price!

What do i get for this? Everything! you will get ads removed from your forum, unlimited backups, and get everything else on the upgrades page at no extra cost, and you still get the great support you always have had.

Can I have my "backup", so that I can take my business elsewhere please? Please do not take my forum offline on your servers, until I confirm that I am ready to make the switch, I have paid you upfront for a month hosting after all.

I presume that the backup will be sufficient to just take the entire forum to another host?

IF this is not the case, please tell me what I will need to do? The £4 change from the £6 backup, should afford me a tinsy bit of your time, to tell me what to do?

Regards

Can I have my "backup",

Yes!

so that I can take my business elsewhere please?

This is the goal of the backup.
But: TEST TEST TEST.
Code: Select all
I presume that the backup will be sufficient to just take the entire forum to another host?

Don't presume. TEST TEST TEST

IF this is not the case, please tell me what I will need to do?

TEST TEST TEST.
I can provide your data, (database copy)
You decide what to do with it.

The £4 change from the £6 backup, should afford me a tinsy bit of your time, to tell me what to do?
At this moment:
-you get a a phpbb 3.0.8 database copy
(no impact from mods)
-phpbb.com for phpbb downloads
-phpbb3styles.nt for your styles download.

But I don't know what you want to do with your backup?
In general: people do not want backups, they want data ...online.

Basically, I want to take my forum, that I have with you, to another host, and host it there, where I can do what I want to do with it.

What's with the "test test test?!"

So, if you provide me with my "file" of "data", I would need to go on my host and install phpbb3.whatever, then upload my database, which is the file you will give me yes? Then get a style that I want? (I like the softwood theme I'm using atm)

So, what exactly will you give me? So I can go elsewhere?

My host responded to me last night and told me that if I give him admin access to my forum here, he'll move it over to his server, but I told him it's not that easy, as I don't have access to my forum in the way he would need it?

Arrrgghhhhh!

Just tell me, will the file you give me, enable me to take my WHOLE forum elsewhere? As in current boards, current posts, current topics, current members, current style, current phpbb version etc.. etc..

Or IF not, exactly WHAT will I get?

Please remember that...

1. I am female.
2. I am very poorly mentally and phyically
3. I was thick before I got poorly :P
4. I totally do NOT understand MYSQL. (the format of the database, yes?)
5. I have NO idea what I do with the file you give me...on my server.

Unless you give me the file and I beg my host to sort it... I am sure he would, because he wants my business after all...

So, exactly WHAT do I get that I can take with me, and my host can help me get my forum, as it is now, but on my host's server...

Am I making sense, because to me I'm actually not.
