Karma or Rep?

Postby CaptainVimes » 22 Jan 2012, 17:32

Hi there,

Is there an add-on/mod for the forum, where I can have it added to award Karma or "rep" to members?

We had a very successful karma system running on our smf forum, our members used the karma to pay for images such as avatars or signatures, made by the forum "pc artists"...

Could I please have some kind of reputation system installed, or would I need to wait until I have paid for Pro on Wednesday? (can't pay before as have no money in my bank account  )

I look forward to your response :-)

Thank you

CV.

At this moment thera are no plans for this kind of mod.

Sorry.

No worries, I will think of a way of getting around the lack of the option.

(Like a section on my boards for members to specifically go in and say "5 karma to CaptainVimes" and then someone to moderate that section specifically and add the karma to the specific member in a post recording everyone's karma :-) )

Re: Karma or Rep? - SOLVED

Postby CaptainVimes » 31 Jan 2012, 10:25

Going by the support forum of the karma mod, it's not worth the hassle of installing it anyway, there's LOTS AND LOTS of posts of people complaining of things not working, and of how unfair it is that someone could take karma away, the karma pre-installed on smf boards had a mod to remove the -Karma button from the forum altogether, which we installed as people were giving minus karma because they had pmt or just not having a good day.

I can see how a karma system could be heavily abused.

One of my members have been constantly complaining about the lack of karma/reputation.
I think the best solution could be giving users an ability to thank posts.

A friend of mine showed this, and wanted me to introduce the same karma system to EuroFolk, but I told him that it's not possible.

Everything is possible but I do not support it.
So it is not available on the forums.

Why don't you have it as an option in Administration Control Panel then the admin can choose whether they want it or not. I also would really like this function.
