if I can't just upload my "backup" to my own host and hey presto it works, then how do you have the right to charge a massive £6 for the "backup"?!

EDIT:

Can you explain in layman's terms, what I need to do with my backup to get my forum on my host. I showed my host your text on your "backup post" and they said they have NO IDEA what you mean by "use your own database"?!

As said.
Most people can import your database backup on any sql database you want.
So you can use any database you want. But not our database.

Did you already test the backup?
( The old one: viewtopic.php?f=58&t=1212&p=9206#p9206 )

did you receive your favicon?

Move to another host procedure:
http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/transfe ... or-domain/

Backup the files:
Open source you can get them here:
http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/

Backup the database:
We do it for you! We sent your database in a zip file per email.

The restore part is for your new host.
(we also import databases for new clients if needed)
